When an importer decides to go to China for the first time, the anxiety is always the same: the language barrier, the fear of being cheated, the uncertainty over which fairs to attend and how to tell manufacturers from intermediaries. BCVN exists to solve exactly that problem, and has done so for 18 years.

This article sets out who we are, what we do, how we work and why more than 500 Brazilian companies have already trusted BCVN to be their team in China.

1. The history: where we came from

BCVN grew out of a practical observation: that importing from China, one of the most obvious moves for a business owner chasing competitiveness, was extraordinarily hard to do safely without a local presence.

08
2008: Beginnings

Operations began with a focus on support for attending the Canton Fair. The first clients were business owners from southern Brazil who wanted to go to the fair but had no local contact and no interpreter they could trust.

12
2010–2014: Broadening the services

Demand for quality inspection before shipment grew quickly. Clients who went to the fairs with BCVN began engaging it to follow production too, and to check the batch before the container was sealed. The network of qualified suppliers started to take shape.

17
2015–2019: Consolidation

BCVN established itself as a reference for guided business trips to China, present at all three phases of the Canton Fair and at the Yiwu Trade Fair. The portfolio of qualified suppliers passed 1,000 companies. Expansion to serve manufacturers needing technical audits.

26
2020–2026: Maturity

Having come through the challenges of the pandemic, BCVN emerged with an even stronger network. More than 500 companies served, more than 2,000 qualified suppliers. Expansion of ESG supplier vetting and of regulatory advisory (INMETRO, ANVISA, MAPA).

2. What BCVN does: the four main services

Guided Business Trips

End to end support at trade fairs (Canton Fair, Yiwu) and on factory visits. Includes the pre trip briefing, a schedule built in advance, a bilingual interpreter, logistical backup and advice during the negotiations.

Quality Inspection

Checking the batch before shipment, with a detailed photographic and technical report. It can include function testing, verification against specification and statistical sampling (AQL).

Supplier Audits

Verifying the factory in person: production capacity, certifications, working conditions, technical compliance and commercial standing. Essential before placing a first order with a new supplier.

Vetting and Sourcing

BCVN identifies suppliers within its network of over 2,000 contacts, pre qualifies them against the client's criteria and arranges the meetings, remotely if need be, with no travel required.

3. How we work: from first contact to result

Whatever the service engaged, BCVN's process always follows the same logic: understand first, act afterwards.

1

First conversation: understanding the project

Before any proposal, the BCVN team talks to the client to understand the product, the sector, the objectives, the estimated volume and the problems already encountered. There is no standard proposal: every mission is designed from scratch.

2

Tailored proposal

On the basis of the briefing, BCVN puts forward a proposal setting out the scope, the deliverables, the duration and the fees. For business trips, it includes the suggested itinerary and the suppliers already identified in the network.

3

Preparation before the mission

For trips: research and shortlisting of suppliers, building the schedule, logistical guidance and preparation material (pocket guide, phrases in Mandarin, bilingual business cards). For inspections: defining the checking protocol and the pass and fail criteria.

4

Execution in China

The BCVN team is present in the field: fairs, factories, showrooms, commercial meetings. The whole process is documented: photographs, negotiation notes, samples collected, technical reports.

5

Report and follow up after the mission

At the end, the client receives a consolidated report with the suppliers visited, the assessments, the prices negotiated, the recommended next steps and the contacts for following up. BCVN remains on hand for questions and to follow production or shipment.

4. What 18 years make different

Any company can say it "knows China". But there are concrete differences between 18 years of continuous presence at the fairs and being a newcomer:

01 A network of over 2,000 qualified suppliers

These are not cold contacts from Alibaba. They are suppliers BCVN has a history with: it knows what they deliver, how they negotiate, which have OEM capability and which suit smaller volumes better. When a client arrives with a product in mind, the search starts inside that network, not from scratch on public platforms.

02 Deep knowledge of the fairs

Eighteen editions of the Canton Fair have taught us exactly where each product category sits, which halls hold real manufacturers, at what hour the decision maker is on the stand and which exhibitors are genuinely manufacturers rather than trading companies. That knowledge cannot be bought: it accumulates through being there.

03 Long term relationships

In Chinese culture, the personal relationship (关系, guanxi) is decisive in negotiations. Suppliers BCVN has dealt with for years offer terms they would not give an unknown buyer: more flexibility on MOQ, more transparency about real capacity, a willingness to adapt products. That asset cannot be transferred and was built visit by visit, fair by fair.

04 Regulatory knowledge across Brazil and China

INMETRO certification, ANVISA requirements, ABNT standards, safety NRs, labelling rules: BCVN has followed the evolution of Brazilian regulation as it applies to Asian imports and knows which questions to put to a supplier before the order is placed. Many of the problems that end up at Brazilian customs could have been avoided with the right questions asked at the factory.

5. Who BCVN works for

A
The first time importer

Wants to go to China for the first time, but does not speak Mandarin and has no idea where to start. BCVN organises the whole trip, from choosing the fairs to the negotiation at the table, and sends the client home with vetted suppliers and orders under way.

B
The frustrated importer

Has tried importing direct and run into trouble: a product different from the sample, a supplier who vanished after payment, a batch held at customs. Needs a company they can trust to bridge the gap properly.

C
The owner who wants to go to China

Knows they need to visit suppliers in person, but wants company. They value the security, the efficient use of time and the assurance of talking to the right people rather than whichever exhibitor happens to be there.

D
The corporate purchasing manager

Works in manufacturing or large retail, needs technical audits, regulatory inspections and supplier vetting with formal documentation. BCVN acts as an extension of their purchasing department in China.

6. Where we are in China

BCVN's presence in China covers the main industrial and foreign trade hubs that matter to Brazilian importers:

In practice: wherever in China the right supplier happens to be, BCVN can get there, whether for a prospecting visit, a factory audit or to follow production.

7. How to start working with BCVN

The first step is always a conversation. There is no long form and no bureaucratic questionnaire: simply get in touch by WhatsApp or through the form on the site and describe briefly what you need:

With that information, the BCVN team can already make a first assessment and point to the service that makes most sense in your case, with no commitment and no pressure.

Frequently asked questions about BCVN

What is BCVN and what does it do?

BCVN (Brasil China Viagens e Negócios) is a company that specialises in connecting Brazilian importers to suppliers in China. It works on four main fronts: guided business trips (Canton Fair, Yiwu Trade Fair, factory visits), supplier vetting and auditing, quality inspection before shipment and import advisory. With 18 years of presence at the main Chinese trade fairs and a bilingual Portuguese and Mandarin team, BCVN is the link between Brazil and the Asian production chain.

What kinds of company does BCVN work for?

BCVN serves everyone from first time importers (who want to go to China for the first time without getting lost) to medium and large manufacturers that need technical audits, quality inspections and supplier vetting for regulated products. The commonest profile is the retail, e-commerce or industrial business owner who wants to buy directly in China but needs someone who knows the ground, speaks Mandarin and can vouch for the quality of what is being bought.

How much does it cost to engage BCVN?

The cost varies by service: support at trade fairs and on business trips, factory audits and quality inspections are quoted individually according to the scope, the number of suppliers and the days of work involved. The first step is always a conversation to understand the project: get in touch by WhatsApp or through the form on the site to receive a proposal.

Which trade fairs in China does BCVN work with?

BCVN has an established presence at the main business fairs for Brazilian importers: the Canton Fair (in Guangzhou, all three phases), the Yiwu International Trade Fair and relevant sector fairs such as the Hong Kong Electronics Fair and the China International Import Expo (CIIE). Beyond the fairs, it arranges direct visits to factories in China's main industrial hubs: Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Fujian.

Can I engage BCVN just for inspection, without travelling to China?

Yes. BCVN carries out quality inspections and factory audits on its own, with no need for the client to travel to China. The importer receives a detailed report with photographs, measurements and a technical assessment, and decides whether to approve or reject the batch before shipment. It is one of the most requested services among importers who already have established suppliers but want an independent guarantee of quality.
